If you are unsure which type of kit to think about making, a good start would be to read 'How will I Power my Circuit' in the Kit Knowledge Section.

Each kit's instructions has a list of the tools you'll need to complete it but if you are just starting off, it'd be a good idea to have a look at 'Recommended Equipment' to give you an idea of what you're likely to need if you get enthusiastic about LEDs.
